Galois Hotel Shinokubo

Very nice Tokyo feel.

Pros: Great location; easy walk from metro station. Nice cosy feel when coming into reception. So good to have a (small but nice) public bath in the hotel in the middle of Tokyo. The room felt nice, and the beds were good.

Cons: Our room was really small, with no space for luggage. Breakfast, served in the restaurant at street level, was rather basic.

Pros: Great place both for longer and shorter stays. The staff at the recrption are extremely nice and helpful with everything. They speak English, one lady even used Google translator to make sure I got her English, but there was no problem with the communication. The public bath is also nice, I went after 10pm and it was only me. Location is fantastic, easy to reach from Narita, its 20 min walk from Shinjuku or just one station by subway, saved lot of time because of the location. You can do your laundry which is a plus.

Cons: One thing I decided to comment on is the non-Japanese restaurant staff. The waitresses are extremely rude, close to gross, depending on their mood. On my first stay had no issue, asked to choose scrambbled egg or fried, had hot green tea. The other day they told me I can't choose between scrambbled or fried eggs because its fixed, okay no problem. That day the waitress was making vomiting voices in the middle of the kitchen (!!!) then laughed...maybe she was imitating it or was sick, not sure, but since there was a laughter I can make a guess... The nect day another waitress said breakfast fixed, ok I'm not picky both scrambbled or fried eggs are fine, but I had hot green tea for every morning and I asked the same, but the new waitress gave me cold because the menu only says green tea no option for hot/cold...It was really inconsistent, also found waitress hair in my food. Would I recommend to stay? Yes, because of the location and the local staff at the reception, but skip the breakfast.

Clean, comfortable and great location to train station.

Pros: We have stay here 3 times now. The facility is always clean. The staff helpful with the check in and the location we found perfect.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The hotel was nice and clean, with a moderately large room (for japan standards). The bed was confortable, and it had all the amenities one might need. The major plus is definitely the small onsen that is accessible through the second floor.

Cons: Biggest downside is the location imo. It is super close to the shin-okubo station and that is a plus. However the neighborhood itself is pretty \

Overall, great experience and friendly staff.

Pros: The location of the property. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cleaning was on time and ready to assist. Onsen was also a delight. Seven eleven opposite the street, which makes accessing late night food easy. Noise wasn’t an issue for my room.

Cons: The smoking room is small. A suggestion for the hotel, to have an open space. However, this is Tokyo and it’s understandable.

Pros: Good location and suited our needs well. Needs were comfortable.

Cons: The room was very hot and extremely dry.

Great location for exploring Shinjuku and Shibuya

Pros: Nice hotel very close to the Shin-Okubo station on the yamanote line, great for exploring Tokyo, especially Shinjuku and Shibuya. The rooms are nice, new and clean, and the staff is accomodating. It is right next to the train tracks, but you almost can't hear them. We actually liked the faint sound, it provided some nice ambiance. We had a room on the 10th floor with an amazing view of the Shinjuku skyline, especially at night. The Okubo area is also quite nice to explore, lots of great resutrants and mixed culture.

A convient and comfortable stay in Tokyo

Pros: I liked that it was so close to the train station and in the centre of everything. The public bath was also lovely after a big day of walking around Tokyo.

Cons: Small bins.

EXCELLENT - Perfect location to Shin-Okubu station, extremely clean, friendly staff and lovely room.

Pros: Exceptionally clean, excellent location, very friendly staff. Room was small, but standard for Tokyo; very comfortable double bed, a desk, full bathroom, full length mirror, TV and was able to control lights from my bed. The room also had black-out blinds, which was great for getting a good sleep, and there was no noise. All amenities provided, free to take from the reception area, along with shampoo, conditioner, body wash in the bathroom. I was able to store my luggage before and after check-in/out. Literally 100m to Shin-Okubo station, the JY line. Standard check-out time of 11am, and I was able to pay 1000 Yen to extend to 12pm.

Cons: I love everything - nothing I didn’t like.
