Shin Okubo Sekitei

Convenient, friendly, large room at Shinjuku area

Pros: Stayed a total of 5 nights and really enjoyed our time here. Large tatami room with all facilities from TV, hair dryer bath tub dining area and even shared kitchen and paid laundry if required. Location is safe, convenient just minutes walk to JR Shin-okubu station and lots of Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Genki sushi as well. Dubai chewy cookie very nearby at cafes too. Reasonable price for such a good location and cost large room.

Cosy, Convenient Tatami large room

Pros: Cosy and hospitable tatami room. Toiletries all provided. Close to Shin Okubo Station (JR line and just a stop from Shinjuku), see Don Don DONKI and turn in to find this lovely lodging. There are no lifts but we are fine as we only have 2 cabin bags whom Elaine helped us up the stairs. She is really friendly and helpful to all our requests.

Fully equipped large room, very near Shinjuku

Pros: Our 3rd night here, they clean the room daily and change the towels etc. Green matcha provided daily for us to enjoy. Fridge, kettle, TV, hangers etc are all in room.

Cons: Nothing.

Large comfortable & clean room at super convenient location.

Pros: Large room to sleep in with toilet and shower separated and a dining area to place our luggage as too. Host Elaine was really warm and welcoming and provided extra pillows when we requested too. Shared Kitchen with toaster oven and microwave and stove too. Location is really convenient as it’s in the “Korean town” of Tokyo. And near train stations, can easily walk to Shinjuku too.

Great value and worth the stay, surprisingly rooms are bigger than expected.

Pros: Loved the comfortable and traditional atmosphere, also very clean. The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful.

Overall it was really a good value for money. Location is great just 5 mins away from Shin-Okubo.

Pros: The location, daily cleaning and spacious bathroom. Toilet is separate from the bathroom.

Cons: There’s no lift but the good thing is that my request to have our rooms in the 1st floor was granted. Some of the stuff and furniture are a bit old. Would be great to have coffee as well in the room.

Pros: Traditional and beautiful. Facilities available. Check in at a later time was available.

Cons: Felt alot smaller than the pictures displayed. Looks like a different room from the original photos displayed.

Pros: - excellent location - value for money - large room - lots of Showa charm - 24h front desk with friendly staff - cleanliness, room made everyday - in the room: lots of power outlets, fridge, kettle - you sleep on a futon but they give you extra little mattresses so you can make it softer if you prefer, this should suit most people - you can do laundry I will definitely try to stay there again when I'm back in Tokyo! I felt at home and loved relaxing in my Japanese room (which felt almost like a little apartment). It was also very easy to travel to other parts of the city and Narita.

Cons: Nitpicks: - the clothes dryer didn't work very well, it could barely handle a light load in 90 minutes - the Japanese paper screens let in a lot of light in the morning compared to curtains, so it's good to have an eye mask if you're sensitive - you have to pay extra to rent a yukata (but it's only 200 yen)

Pros: Very close to the Shin Okubo station (Yamanote Line), the kindness of the owners, large space for the luggages in our rooms Réception open 24/24 !

Cons: The dryer is not really fast (3 cycles of 90min to dry out laundry) But that’s all and not a real negative point

Pros: Amazing location in the city and also close to a metro line. Staff were very helpful and helped me forward my luggage to Osaka.

Cons: It could be a bit cleaner, it was aged and dusty.
