Kagurazaka Retro BAR & HOTEL

Fantastic multi-day stay to explore and base from to experience Tokyo.

Pros: The location provided a unique experience, traditional feel and humble residence to base ourselves from during our stay in Tokyo. The alleyway access off the main street made us feel like we were locals in the area despite only being there for a few days. The location is surrounded by great, discrete little bars and dining options. It is out of the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku and Shibuya, yet still a stone throw away from al the special experiences in these areas with the conveniently located station at the end of the street. Great for the first few days in Japan to acquaint yourself with the culture without feeling overwhelmed.

Family trip Tokyo

Pros: The local japanese style house was fantastic charming located in a fabulus area with vibrant street life. We had everything we could wish for to further explore Tolyo from here.

Cons: We got in late at night for check in and hadn’t been given a pass code or instructions for entry prior to arrival. Our booking had stated we would be checking in 8-9pm. It took a couple phone calls to get the right person but we finally got in.

Fantastic authentic Japanese hotel in a great part of town

Pros: Gorgeous little apartment hotel in a nice and interesting part of Tokyo. Close to the subway. The bar is a real experience and the owners are very kind and friendly. Highly recommended for an authentic Japanese experience.

Pros: Awesome location, so close to laneway bars and restaurants, but nice and quiet once the gin bar closes. And great to be staying in traditional style accommodation

Cons: The account got hacked so I got so many dodgy emails from scammers before we came to stay

Authentic local stay in perfect location

Pros: The location was perfect, right in the heart of the charming Kagurazaka district with plenty of small local restaurants and bars. The hotel has only three rooms, and access to them is from outside, so it doesn’t get crowded. Check-in and check-out were smooth and fully digital. The room has everything you need, but the bed on the tatami takes up most of the floor space in the bedroom. We mainly used the room for sleeping and washing up, as we spent most of our time outside.

Pros: Great location in quiet back street of a really interesting neighbourhood surrounded by discrete restaurants and bars. The hotel bar was beautiful and we were looked after by two lovely bar staff and had the best cocktail i have ever tasted. The room is compact but thoughtful and fun in its decor

Cons: The kitchen area was unbearably hot but the air con was fine in the bedroom

Traditional, beautiful space in a great location.

Pros: Beautiful, traditional apartment in great location. Very clean with a little view over a traditional courtyard. The property is on an old cobbled street that is quiet but there are lots of very cute eateries and restaurants within a 2 min walk. I loved staying here.

Cons: Nothing. It was great!

Pros: Comfortable and cosy room in a great area! There was so much to do nearby and many good restaurants. Close to two train stations

Cons: Stairs were narrow so it was difficult to carry luggage up.

Pros: Great location with fabulous restaurants all around, loved the property bar and cocktails very warm and friendly atmosphere. Lovely chill neighbourhood with a few minutes walk to the metro to go to all the tourist spots.

Cons: Very small accommodation, as we were 3 very big people but we knew to expect that so very ok and loved the retro vibe :)
