A very special place to stay in Tokyo

Pros: This is repeat visit to Hanare and as ever, the team was very welcoming. It feels much closer to home than a hotel. The location in Yanaka is lovely.

Cons: My old carcass would benefit of a slightly thicker bedding on top of the tatami.

One of our best stays in Japan! Thank you Nana and Momo :)

Pros: Everything, it went above and beyond in trying to make our check in, stay and check out comfortable and memorable. The staff were so friendly and paid so much attention to all details. We could have chatted with the staff for hours! The room was in a beautiful traditional house, it was very spacious and comfortable. We wish we stayed longer!

Cons: That we didn’t stay long enough

Pros: Extremely welcoming staff, cute and thoughtful pieces throughout such as a handwritten note at breakfast. Lovely traditional Ryokan

Cons: The walls are very thin and so struggled to sleep with other guests being loud at 1am!

Pros: A great, authentic property in the amazing neighbourhood of Yanaka. I stayed here 10 years ago, and had such fond memories that I brought my mum back all these years later! The staff, Momo and Nana are so friendly and the map they provide with must sees of the area is amazing. Breakfasts are delicious, all sourced from a local area… I miss them! Close to the station for easy access anywhere.

Tranquility

Pros: A fantastic stay in a peaceful part of Tokyo. The futon was very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Apart from some brief noisy period, in the mornings and evenings, Hanare was a tranquil and homely inn.
