Tokyo Shibya 88 Shared House

Pros: Most comfortable beds we've stayed in Japan. The bedding was different to what we're used to, but it worked perfectly. The owner was very nice and gave us fruit and useful amenities.

Cons: We stayed for about a week. Not gonna lie. It was messy and dirty when we arrived. However, as soon as we met the owner, it was pretty obvious she wasn't capable of cleaning the entire place (a 2F house) every day. We realised part of the problem was a lack of empathy and knowledge. This is NOT A HOTEL, it's a SHARED HOUSE. Guess what, in a shared house you're supposed to share the cleaning as well to keep the place clean. Is it really that hard to take the (readily available) vacuum and spend a few minutes cleaning up the spaces you used? Will it take so much time to use a tissue to dry and clean the surfaces you wet? We did it, it was easy, fast and we helped the owner. A suggestion for mangement: hire a person to clean more than once a week to help the owner. And to future guests, if you want to be served, pay more and go to a hotel! smh

Cool lady Ms. T 🥰 and homey!

Pros: I really like the Hostess owner, T-san 🥰🥰🥰 she is such a lovely lady. We even had some chats. She is so cool. And I love that everything you need is there. Thoughtful accommodation. I love that the water can be really hot especially the winter in Tokyo this year is crazy. You can adjust the heat. Also a lot of heater around the house! We didn't use heaters in our bedroom though coz the bedrooms are well insulated. I always slept good! So many showers and toilets as well!

Cons: Nothing really

Pros: Very good place, room alone. The host Toshobu is amazing, very very kind

Great stay for solo traveller

Pros: I stayed here for two weeks and liked it a lot: the owner makes a big effort to make your stay pleasant. The beds are comfortable, the area is quiet and feels very local, 15 min walk to the metro station, washing machine works, fast internet (good enough for video calls)

Cons: Inside your room is warm and cozy but outside it’s cold - I was okey with it but just as a heads up. Bring warm socks and a good PJ 🫶

Cosy and friendly

Pros: The location was great in a lovely neighbourhood, the lady was really friendly and lovely too. Comfortable and clean and nice bed

Cons: There was only one washer and dryer so it was hard to share, also other guests weren’t very tidy sometimes

Pros: The lady is really nice and it's good value for money with central location

Cons: Cleanliness needed some attention, the place was hard to find at first

Pros: A Quiet house in Hatagaya. A convenience store and small super market near by, clean and comfortable space, where was just 10 mins bus ride from Shinjuku station and was very good location.

Pros: The attention is great. I left my Ipad in the room and the sent it to me, I recommend it!

Incredible stay at a good location

Pros: This was a very memorable stay. From the second we entered the host made us feel very welcome already. She gave very clear instructions about everything we had to know in the room/house. She was very kind to always help us. Tokyo is a rather expensive city to stay in, so it is very rare to find a good price/quality ratio like this for a room. It is close to some busy locations like Shinjuku and Shibuya, yet the neighborhood is so quiet. This place is located in a lovely neighborhood and there’s no noise at night. It was very nice to stay here and I would like to come back in the future if possible.
