Lovely Ryokan with tatamis and futon, great location, excellent value, and a top team

Pros: I stayed in a Japanese style room, with futon and tatami. The location is right at the busy heart of Asakusa, but as you enter the hotel you cross the threshold of calm. The room was immaculate and quiet, with all the amenities you want without any pretension. The hotel staff were incredibly solicitous and kind, and they even discovered it was my birthday, wrote me a card, and gave me a box of chocolates. So thoughtful!

Pros: Location is amazing. I recommend taking advantage of the location and waking up early one morning to go and visit Senso-Ji temple while very few other visitors are there. It’s totally worth it. There are also a lot of restaurants nearby which is convenient. It’s also close to Asakusa metro station making it easy to discover other areas of Tokyo. The rooms are gorgeous with a traditional feel and very clean. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I felt very safe during my whole stay. Definitely would come back and stay at Kaminarimon Ryokan if I’m back in Tokyo!

Would stay here again and again!

Pros: We loved EVERYTHING about this hotel. The location, the room, the space, the staff - everything was exceptional. They had a coffee machine too which was such a welcome change from only having Starbucks to choose from (which is directly downstairs if you fancy Starbucks). They even did a load of washing for us for a small fee.

Cons: Nothing to dislike here - it was ALL superb!

A beautiful ryokan in central Tokyo

Pros: This is a real find! A beautiful, quiet ryokan exceptionally well located in Asakusa. There’s a metro station 2 minutes away, restaurants and bars galore on the doorstep and of course it’s right next to Senso-ji shrine. Super friendly and helpful staff too!

Cons: Love the ryokan setting but it might not be as comfortable for people not used to sitting on the floor. Hope in futire they have other room settings that can be chosen.

Pros: A beautifully appointed boutique style hotel. Great location. Spacious and comfortable room. Lively staff. Laundry facility.

Cons: Nothing to not like.

Pros: We felt really lucky to have booked this stay. The room's aesthetic was traditional, complemented by a touch of modern, cosy lighting. The view from our window was amazing. We especially loved how clean the space was and appreciated how respectful and polite the staff were. Despite the hotel being situated so close to the Nakamise shopping street, the room was surprisingly soundproof, and we could barely hear the crowds.

Cons: Nothing, everything was perfect.
