YANAKA SOW - Cultural Boutique Hotel in Historical area Yanaka - Near Ueno Akiba

We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Pros: The arrangement of our room was perfect and all the equipment was more than enough and very nice. It was pretty cozy and very efficient even though it was a short stay. If you’re planning to stay longer this is the perfect place.

Cons: As we were a group of women we found the lighting a bit dim since the room only had warm lighting. While we appreciated that a compact mirror was provided it was still hard to see clearly when doing our makeup.

Pros: Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Close to nippori station west exit. Excellent facility with artistic touch.

Cons: Not able to open windows, but understandable considering the neighborhood.

I loved the place, location and the traditional yet modern design.

Pros: Fantastic place and would love to return when I am back to Tokyo!

Pros: Very clean, comfortable and modern with great design features. Offered a communal washing machine and kitchen facilities. Lovely neighborhood, easily walkable to the station ( 10 mins) Welcoming staff! We loved staying here, it was a little peaceful oasis.

Cons: Everything was great!!

Peaceful retreat in Yanaka

Pros: The artful decor, quiet atmosphere and the peaceful location by the cemetery and proximity to the station, Yanaka town and Ueno Park. I loved the fashion and style books in the common room too. The beds were really comfortable and facilities clean and practical for self catering - even the hairdryer was 10/10.

Cons: I needed an iron but wasn’t able to located anyone on site to get one during my stay. Not a big deal but could be annoying for some.

Loved it and would like to go back there again one day

Pros: We loved this location Authentic , diverse and rich in history but also quirky. It is a quiet neighbourhood , close to transport and is a great place to just wander. The hotel is beautiful - modern , not bland , beautifully styled and comfortable.

Cons: The rooms are quite dark and there is little natural light

Pros: The atmospheric, spacious room, the comfortable beds, toilet not in the same room as bath and shower, nice people (according to my husband who spoke with people, I did unfortunately not), good laundry (free of charge) the information about the neigbourhood, very clean, every comfort you need is in the room. It was really thoguht through “what a visitor may need”. Good value for money.

Cons: I usually like it when there is someone for check-in and check -out and not the pre-registering with passport and then electronic check-in. But it worked well - so nothing against that. The lighting in the room was pretty, but for the bathroom (make-up, shaving beard) not optimal. I personally also like it when a window can open, even though the ventilation was very good, it is still nice to open a window sometimes. The window was not allowed to be opened. Only for these little things - not a 10, but they are personal preferences.

Pros: New modern build, artistically done, room was large - Japanese style, self serve (check-in, etc) worked well. It is in a quirky location, amongst temples and graveyards, which is cool if you're not superstitious. Nice little neighbourhood for wandering, Yanaka Ginza street is fun, walking distance to Euno Park, etc.

Cons: Whilst the room well designed, it was a bit dark and we found the lighting / switches confusing. It would have been nice to have had access to the balcony.

Pros: Love the minimalist and spacious room and walking distance to train station. Will come back again!

Cons: Although I don’t mind, please keep in mind that there are many temple with cemeteries around this area.
