FLEXSTAY INN Sugamo

Pros: The hotel met my expectations. They are individial rooms and, although all are smoking rooms, there was no smell. Staff at front desk was very helpful and friendly. Hotel is located at around 7 minutes from the Sugamo JR station and has a lot of shops nearby.

An amazing location in a clean comfortable room.

Pros: This is my favourite location of the six times I've stayed in Tokyo. The room had all I needed and was clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff were exceptional and easy to deal with in my limited Japanese and the staffs limited English.

Cons: It would have been nice to gain access to the elevator at ground level. The WIFI although good when it worked will occasional disconnect for no apparent reason. It takes between two and five minutes to reconnect. The light over the sink did not work and probably hasn't worked for a long time. Inconvenient but can be worked around.

Pros: Lovely location, easy to transfer anywhere you may wish to go as close to two stations

Pros: The room had all you need. It was bit small with 2 suitcases but its normal for japan. The reception took my bags in for the last day when i had to check out and my flight was later.

Pros: Location is the highlight of this facility for me.It is possible to travel to Tokyo's major regions with a single or two metro line,in a time as short as 20 minutes.

Cons: When you are in a city like Tokyo,in which most museums and temples close around 5 pm, you want to leave the hotel early in the morning and return in the late evening.In this scenario,it is difficult to come across a hotel staff in the reception because of the reception service hours.If you have a problem with your room,it could be inconvenient trying to reach the staff.

Convenient Location, Accommodating Stay, Value for money

Pros: The location is very close to Sugamo Station on the yamanote line, which made it so much easier to travel around hotspots in Japan (Tokyo Station, Akihabara, Shibuya etc). There's a lot of convenient stores, drugstores and a shopping district nearby if I needed anything urgent, also easy to get food for breakfast. And a laundry store just opposite for wash-dry. The room was cozy and clean, with free WiFi, charging ports, kettle, toiletries, towels and a TV. It's relatively noise proof so I don't hear my neighbours at night and can watch movies/shows without disturbing anyone. The location seems to around a local neighborhood so it's quiet and peaceful to sleep at night.

Cons: The room was abit small for my personal preference this trip as I had brought a large check in luggage. It took up a huge part of the hallway but was still manageable to around the room. As they only have stairs available, it was difficult to get my luggage out of the stay at the end of the trip. It would be better to just bring carry-on size luggage for your stay. Towel changes also had to be charged per day, although you could just wash it together on laundry day.

Affordable room close the JR Yamanote line.

Pros: This place is conveniently located in a residential and quiet area about 7 minutes walk to Sugamo JR station. Close also to the shiyotengai for convenience store, supermarkets and places to eat. The room was small but contained all ameneties one might need including a fridge, microwave, induction cooker, TV. Etc. All in all good value for money although you must pay for a change of towel, which I thought a bit stingy. If its cheap, I will stay there again.

Cons: The 10am checkout is way too early. More coat hangers would be appreciated. One pillow is not enough. Bedside lamp for reading needed. As pot and cooking hot plate are included, perhaps a bowl and a plate plus spoon and fork could also be included.

A good comfortable hotel

Pros: Small but well appointed room with everything you need and it's in a quiet area. Close to restaurants and food shops.

Cons: The hotel entrance is down a steep flight of steps that might be difficult for older people. However, the exit is on street level which makes it easier when leaving.

Best value for money

Pros: Best value for money, in a neighbourhood of Tokyo I did not know. Sugamo has a metro station and JR that allow quicky reaching Shinjuku or Tokyo Station. The room itself is perfectly organized and optimized for space, is clean and quiet.

Great stay, as expected from the brand

Pros: The staff were always friendly and professional, and everything works exactly as expected from a Flexstay hotel. Having watching machine access within and just outside the hotel is extremely helpful. Located quite close to the station (Mita line and Yamanote line), and very close to a supermarket. Perfect for a temporary stay

Cons: Room size wasn't big enough for a 2-suitcase travel, and while I was able to adjust, I feel like a bit of corridor space could be sacrificed for larger rooms, as the corridor was quite large. Bed was a bit too hard.
