An experience of staying in a small Japanese house at the cost of some creature comforts.

Pros: It's a taste of what living in a real Japanese home would be like. The location is also in suburbia and in an area with small cafes and restaurants dotted around. So it's a peaceful stay. There are also two convenience stores within walking distance. The property also has a washer dryer.

Cons: The property is slated for up to 6 people but in fact even for 4 people it's a bit of a squeeze. The main constraint is the bathroom amenities specifically, only one shower and two very small toilets. The dining area upstairs also seems to hold only 4 people max. While the experience of small Japanese house living is quite novel, this also comes at the cost of some creature comforts. For example in winter, going to the bathroom is a very cold affair as the only means of ventilation is by opening the windows. The toilets are the old school type so don't expect heated seats either. The wiring is also a bit dodgy. For example, boiling a kettle of water takes longer than usual and causes the room lights to dim and flicker. We also had issues with the washer dryer tripping the circuit during its drying cycle. And while shower and wash amenities are provided, don't expect tea and coffee. However those can be bought at the nearby convenience stores.

Very pleasant stay

Pros: Beautifully decorated traditional style house tucked in a little alley. It’s located in a charming quiet neighborhood. Conveniently located near the tramway.

Cons: Check in process was a bit confusing. But we got a quick response from the host and were able to retrieve the key and checking smoothly after that.
