Takanawa Hanakohro

Nice modern ryokan-style hotel with good shuttle service to Shinagawa station.

Pros: The shuttle bus service was convenient for travel between the hotel and Shinagawa station. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The buffet breakfast was great and being able to utilise the lounges throughout the different sister hotels by walking through the lovely garden was really nice.

Cons: The shower pressure was limited and the room cleaning service varied whereby one day it was good and another it would be done poorly. Some staff were also unfriendly and gave off an unwelcome vibe.

Old but clean, good service.

Pros: Super clean and friendly staff. Breakfast has lots of variety. 5 min walking to the station.

Cons: The view is not that great, only can see roof of the other building. Room is bit old but maintained well.

Beautiful Japanese style room with many amenities supplied. Good for couples :)

Pros: The Japanese room was exceptional. The quality of the Japanese breakfast and facilities in the Club Lounge were exceptional plus.

The best of Japanese hospitality

Cons: The room view we had could be improved. It was facing a rooftop that could be covered in green/plants rather than being left as it is.

Beautiful stay, very comfortable beds, lovely gardens.

Pros: I mean everything you’d expect from a top hotel. The Hanakhoro part is lovely. Traditional as expected. The gardens were beautiful too. Good room service selection. Our welcome check in was fantastic.

Cons: Not a single hotel bar open at 10pm on a Sunday sadly. I’d expect one to be open in a place like this. Especially with the three hotels on the complex.

Better places to stay for the money!

Pros: The room and hotel are quiet and clean. The restroom and bathroom were nice. The bed was comfortable.

Cons: For the price, these accomodations should have been much better. It was not worth the money spent. You can find other places with a better value for the rate they charged for this room. Also, the service was spotty. They had a hard time even helping us find a shop for a hat, or a good place for ramen. When they did give us recommendations, they didn't tell us how to get there. And one of the places they sent us to was closed. Only certain higher level managers were competent. When I asked if I could give them some feedback, they said I should do it online. So I'm doing that now. They also never cleaned the room fully, leaving trash on the table and under the table for all four days there. I won't be back here unfortunately.

I have a pleasant and fun time during my stay.

Pros: The Japanese style room was big, clean & comfortable with unblock view. The complimentary hotel shuttle bus provides easy access to the other few hotels nearby. The Japanese Garden in the center of the few hotels is very relaxing to walk.

Cons: The location is quite far from Shinagawa Station 600m (8mins walk uphill) specially with large luggage.
