Royal Hotel Shinokubo

Pros: Great location and room was bigger than expected. Staff were friendly and helpful

Pros: Amazing location. A few mins walk from two different stations (local and JR) and only one stop away from Shinjuku. It was great value for money

Huge room and close to everything

Pros: Great location in the north part of Shinjuku, close to loads of great restaurants (not just Japanese but loads of other world cuisines too!), shops and a train station. Walkable to the centre of Shinjuku. Hotel was very quiet and the family room was huge. Hotel in need of a renovation as interiors felt very old and dated, but to be honest this is probably reflected in the lower price we paid. Would definitely stay again.

Superb location, excellent value if you can accept the room quality

Pros: The location couldn't be better, located right on top of a Don Quixote and next to a Yamanote line station, 1 station away from Shinjuku with many food options all around. Can actually walk to Shinjuku if you want to with lots to see and eat along the way.

Cons: The WiFi was terrible, had trouble getting connected and even after so, getting random disconnections. Room was old but generally clean. The hotel lobby is on level 2 and the only way to reach it is a long flight of stairs, no lift.

Pros: Good location-near the metro and walking distance from shinjuku, donki right in front of the hotel, konbini and restaurants nearby, nice staff

Cons: Mold in the bathroom, old and dated, you need to let the key at the reception everytime you leave the hotel

Cons: The smell in the room. Strong smell of mold in the room and there is no option to open the windows

Pros: Everything is great. The 24/7 Don Quijote store is right downstairs from the hotel, which is very convenient as I can buy anything I need. There are also 24/7 restaurants nearby, and the hotel is very close to the station. Additionally, the room I stayed in was very spacious. Although some of the facilities are a bit old, everything else was fine. However, one thing to note is that the front desk staff do not recognize guests or their room numbers, and since you have to return the key every time you leave the hotel, this could pose a security risk.

awesome location and huge room; very bad wifi

Pros: very nice location along the yamanote line just above shinjuku. extremely big room and bathroom. the interior is a bit old-fashioned but fullfills its purpose.

Cons: the wifi was very bad and would cut out all the time. the sink and shower are positioned very low for the average (female) european which gets a bit annoying when you stay longer.
