JR-East Hotel Mets Mejiro

Pros: Hotel was very clean and quiet, and the location was excellent

Cons: Bed was firm, but ok.

Pros: Fatnastic location and very kind staff. The hotel stored my luggage for a nighy when I travelled outside of Tokyo.

Cons: I'd skip the breakfast option. You just get a Starbucks/Doutor coupon, and I found it hard to choose from their menu. You can easily find a better breakfast option in the neighbouring restaurants and bars.

A little known hotel haven with easy access around Tokyo

Pros: Mejiro Station is a fantastic secret place to stay in Tokyo. Right on the Yamanote Line in-between Shinjuku and Ikebukuro in a quiet residential enclave. The JR Hotel here has larger than average Tokyo rooms with a refined and comfortable fit out. Free coffee machine in the lobby, paid washing machines, microwave, ice machines and various bath salts and lotions all help make this a most convenient place to stay for 5 nights. Supermarket and restaurants are very close by. More choices and shopping one stop away at Ikebukuro Station, which is bigger and better than Shinjuku. Also Takadanobaba Station in the Shinjuku direction is a lively university area worth checking out for a casual meal. Because this JR Mets Mejiro and another JR property in Yamagata were both so good for us, JR Hotels will be the first we look for on our next Japan trip.

Cons: The washer dryer is very weak as a dryer. The microwave needs some bench space beside it to stir hot food on and also paper towels in case of spills. The WiFi had to be reconnected once a day, which shouldn't be necessary.

Comfortable and modern stay

Pros: Convenient location, just 2 mins walk away from Mejiro station and several convenience shops. Comfortable, clean, and modern room. Helpful staff. Useful amenities like laundry, microwave, vending machine provided. Coffee available at lobby.

Cons: Slightly noisy in the room occasionally, from the road traffic, nearby trains, other rooms, and room-cleaning sounds.

Value for money and no regrets staying there.

Pros: The rooms are clean and the location is just next to the train station which makes it really convenient. Love the free coffee machine at the lobby which dispenses freshly brewed coffee and the free toiletries amenities.

Cons: The lack of eating places around the location, especially for vegan or vegetarian options.

Perfect location for accessing Tokyo and sleeping in comfort

Pros: Located right next to Mejiro Station on Tokyo's fabulous Yamanote line, so it's really easy to get to, with loads of fabulous eateries and kombini in short walking distance, but in a slightly more peaceful area than nearby Harajuku etc. The hotel interior is very soothing: I found my bed really comfortable (might have been a bit short for a super tall person, but great for me at 1.78m) and I liked everything about my room (great wifi, excellent water pressure, etc). The Starbucks downstairs is convenient, and the staff did a great job at communicating with me despite my appalling lack of Japanese.

Cons: Nothing - all great.

Pros: near the station and lots of shops and supermarket. free coffee.

Pros: Great hotel if you want to have quick access to Ikebukuro, Shinjuku and Shibuya. The hotel is connected to Mejiro station which means you can take the Yamanote line to most major hotspots of Tokyo. Even though it's so close to busy areas, the hotel's surroundings are quite peaceful and the room was quiet at night. The room was large enough and had a nice view towards a small wooded area. For breakfast, you get a coupon that can be used at a nearby Doutor cafe or the Starbucks located in the hotel building. At Starbucks the coupon was enough for a tall-sized coffee, a sandwich and a cookie.

Cons: The hotel's Starbucks does get quite crowded in the mornings so you might want to have your breakfast as take-away. There was a slightly unpleasant smell in the hallways but thankfully not in the room.

Fantastic location in Tokyo, next to Mejiro JR train station (Yamanote line). Clean and modern.

Pros: Great location in Tokyo, located between Shinjuku and Ikebukuro (in the quieter Mejiro area). Clean, neat, modern, convenient. Literally next to Mejiro JR station, with access to Yamanote line.

Good location.

Pros: It is at the exit of train station of Yamanote line which is convenient to reach tourist attractions. And there is a Starbuck s next to entrance.
