Good value for money, good location, small rooms but to be expected for the price.

Pros: Good location, helpful staff, good value for money.

Cons: As expected the room was very small. Did not expect more for the price but something to be aware of. There are no wardrobes and a sliding door to the bathroom/toilet (it saves space).

Comfortable, relatively spacious hotel extremely close to Ueno station.

Pros: The location was fantastic and extremely close to Ueno Station and Ueno Park. Note that there are a fair few underpasses/a bit of travelling to the actual platforms of Ueno station, and it is a little further to Keisei Ueno Station where you can catch the Skyliner. The room was slightly larger than the other hotel we stayed at in Tokyo for a similar price. We appreciated that we could open a suitcase fairly easily and there was a long bench-style table and outlets easily accessible. The hotel seemed to have fewer rooms than we expected (there were about 5/6 on the 11th floor where we stayed), so the single elevator wasn't an issue.

The experience is generally pleasant. But the facilities are fairly run down.

Pros: The staff are very helpful, attentive, and resourceful. Mr Fan Pan arranged a locksmith around midnight to fix the faulty lock of our room and offered a room for us to take rest while we were waiting. On our check-in day, the lady at the front desk was also pleasant and helpful and had excellent command of English.

Cons: The furniture and floor in our room were dusty. There were no spare electrical sockets. The basket holding spare bathroom tissues in the bathroom literally fell off.
